The Guild Of Tentmasters is a multi-disciplinary professional standards association for all individuals who work within the tensioned membrane construction industry.
All aspects of tensioned fabric membrane roof design, manufacture, sales, rental, installation and maintenance are represented by the Guild, bringing members together to raise standards and disseminate knowledge. Training and assessment is the primary ethos of the Guild.
The profession and title of Tentmaster will be recognised as an accredited qualification within the construction and live events industries.
The Guild has training and assessment courses in place for those on the first step of the ladder to Tentmastership. These are provided in partnership with ESITS.
The Guild provides the formal title of Tentmaster to those who recognisably are proficient in their craft, have the necessary experience to deliver projects in their field of work and who can facilitate their skills to the highest of standards.
Membership is on an individual basis only, however the Guild recognises the importance of commercial and academic relationships. These links benefit employers, partners and suppliers and are therefore encouraged.
Currently the Guild and ESITS are concentrating on commercial links with businesses who can offer access to their premises for use as temporary training and assessment facilities. The Guild is also in discussions with insurance companies regarding personal indemnity insurance for Guild members.
The next stage of the Guilds’ development will be laying the groundwork in which a network forum is developed online to give members access to information libraries and industry related services. Working with suppliers and manufacturers, the Guild forum will become an interface in which the knowledge of technical fabrics, fabrication and the processes of converting materials into structures will be available online.
